Font Size & Readability Problems

Adjust font sizes and improve text readability on the platform.

Adjusting Font Size

Reading Arabic text comfortably is essential for effective learning, especially when studying detailed diacritical marks (tashkeel) used in Sarf and Tajweed lessons. Ilm Al Lughah provides built-in font size controls that allow you to increase or decrease the text size across the platform. Look for the font size adjuster in your settings page or the accessibility menu to customize text to your comfort level.

Using Browser Zoom

In addition to our built-in font controls, you can use your browser's zoom feature for quick size adjustments. Press Ctrl + Plus (+) to zoom in or Ctrl + Minus (-) to zoom out. However, be aware that browser zoom affects the entire page layout, not just text. Excessive zooming may cause layout issues, hiding elements off-screen, or making interactive features harder to use. If you've zoomed in and are experiencing layout issues, press Ctrl + 0 to reset to the default zoom level.

Arabic Text Readability

Arabic script, especially with full diacritics, requires adequate font size for clear readability. If you find the Arabic text too small, we recommend increasing the font size to at least 18px for comfortable reading. Our platform uses carefully selected Arabic fonts (such as Noto Naskh Arabic) that are optimized for on-screen readability. If the Arabic text appears pixelated or blurry, ensure your browser's font smoothing is enabled and your display resolution is set to the native resolution of your screen.

High-DPI / Retina Displays

On high-DPI screens (like Retina displays on MacBooks), text should appear crisp and sharp by default. If text looks blurry on a high-DPI display, check your display settings to ensure you're running at the recommended resolution. On Windows, right-click the desktop, go to Display Settings, and make sure the scale is set appropriately (usually 125% or 150% for high-DPI screens). Our platform supports high-DPI rendering, so text and icons should scale beautifully on these displays.
