Identifying Display Issues
Display issues can manifest in many ways: overlapping text, broken layouts, missing images, unstyled pages, or elements appearing in the wrong position. These problems are often caused by cached stylesheets, browser zoom settings, incompatible browser versions, or conflicting browser extensions. Most display issues are easy to fix with a few simple steps.
Reset Your Zoom Level
One of the most common causes of layout issues is an incorrect browser zoom level. Press Ctrl + 0 (Windows) or Cmd + 0 (Mac) to reset your browser zoom to 100%. Our platform is designed to look best at the default zoom level. If you need larger text for readability, we recommend using our built-in font size settings rather than browser zoom, as browser zoom can distort the layout of interactive elements like quizzes and flashcards.
Clear Cache & Hard Refresh
Outdated cached CSS and JavaScript files are a frequent cause of display issues, especially after we push platform updates. Perform a hard refresh by pressing Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac). This forces the browser to reload all resources from the server instead of using cached versions. If the issue persists, try clearing your entire browser cache as described in our cache-clearing guide.
Browser-Specific Fixes
If you're experiencing display issues in one browser but not another, the problem may be browser-specific. Try disabling hardware acceleration in your browser settings — while it generally improves performance, it can sometimes cause rendering glitches, especially on older graphics hardware. In Chrome, go to Settings → System and toggle off "Use hardware acceleration when available," then restart the browser.
