Progress Not Saving: Troubleshooting Guide

Learn why your learning progress might not be saving and how to fix it.

How Progress Saving Works

Ilm Al Lughah automatically saves your learning progress as you complete lessons, quizzes, and flashcard sessions. Your progress — including XP earned, lessons completed, streak data, and quiz scores — is stored securely on our servers and synced with your account. This means you can access your progress from any device by logging in. However, certain conditions can prevent progress from saving correctly.

Are You Logged In?

The most common reason progress doesn't save is that you're not logged in or your session has expired. Check the top of the page — if you see a "Sign In" button instead of your profile, you're not authenticated. Log in with your Google account, then redo the lesson or quiz. Your session may expire after extended periods of inactivity, so if you've been away for a while, try refreshing the page to re-authenticate.

Internet Connection Issues

Progress can't be saved to our servers without an active internet connection. If you lose connectivity mid-lesson, your progress may not be recorded. We recommend checking your connection before starting a study session. If you think progress was lost due to a connection drop, try completing the lesson again when you have a stable connection. We're working on offline support for our upcoming mobile app, which will allow progress to sync once you're back online.

Browser & Cache Issues

In rare cases, browser issues can interfere with progress saving. Try the following: clear your browser cache, disable browser extensions temporarily, and ensure cookies are enabled for our site (cookies are needed to maintain your login session). If you've tried all of these steps and your progress still isn't saving, please report the issue to our support team with information about your browser, device, and the specific lesson or activity affected.
