Common Audio Problems
Audio is a critical part of learning Arabic on Ilm Al Lughah — from Tajweed recitation to pronunciation guides. If you're experiencing issues with audio not playing, producing no sound, or cutting out mid-lesson, there are several common causes and solutions. Most audio problems are related to browser settings, device volume, or temporary loading issues that can be quickly resolved.
Check Your Device & Browser Volume
First, ensure your device volume is turned up and not muted. Check both your system volume and the browser tab volume — in some browsers, individual tabs can be muted by right-clicking the tab. Also, make sure no other application is exclusively using your audio device. On Windows, check the Volume Mixer (right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar) to ensure your browser's volume slider isn't set to zero.
Browser Autoplay Policies
Modern browsers have strict autoplay policies that may prevent audio from playing automatically. If audio doesn't play when you first visit a lesson, try clicking anywhere on the page first — browsers often require a user interaction before allowing audio playback. In Chrome, you can also go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings → Sound and make sure our site is allowed to play sound. Adding Ilm Al Lughah to your allowed sites list ensures uninterrupted audio playback.
Try a Different Browser or Clear Cache
If audio still isn't working, try opening the same lesson in a different browser to determine if the issue is browser-specific. You can also try clearing your browser cache and reloading the page, as corrupted cached audio files can cause playback failures. If none of these steps work, please contact our support team with details about your browser, device, and the specific lesson where the issue occurs so we can investigate further.
