Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a critical extra layer of security to your account. Since Ilm Al Lughah uses Google authentication, 2FA is managed through your Google account rather than directly on our platform.
Enabling 2FA on Your Google Account
- Go to myaccount.google.com and sign in.
- Navigate to Security > 2-Step Verification.
- Click "Get Started" and follow the setup wizard.
- Choose your preferred second factor: Google prompts, authenticator app, security key, or SMS codes.
- Complete the setup and save your backup codes in a safe place.
Recommended 2FA Methods
We recommend using either Google Authenticator (or a similar TOTP app like Authy) or a physical security key for the strongest protection. SMS-based 2FA, while better than nothing, is less secure because SMS messages can be intercepted through SIM-swapping attacks.
Once 2FA is enabled on your Google account, it automatically protects your Ilm Al Lughah sign-in as well. Every time you sign in to our platform through Google, you will need to complete the 2FA verification step. This ensures that even if someone obtains your Google password, they cannot access your learning account.
Always keep your backup codes stored safely. If you lose access to your 2FA device, these codes are your only way to regain access to your Google account and, by extension, your Ilm Al Lughah account.
