Retaking Quizzes & Improving Scores

Learn how to retake quizzes, the benefits of doing so, and strategies for score improvement.

On Ilm Al Lughah, you can retake any quiz as many times as you want. We believe that quizzes are learning tools, not just evaluation tools, and repetition is one of the most effective ways to solidify knowledge. There is no penalty for retaking a quiz — in fact, we encourage it as a study strategy.

When you retake a quiz, the platform records your best score as your official score for that quiz. This means your progress and XP reflect your best performance, not your most recent attempt. However, we do keep track of all your attempts so you can see your improvement over time. The quiz history shows each attempt's date, score, and time taken, giving you a clear picture of your learning trajectory.

To get the most out of retaking quizzes, follow this three-step process: First, take the quiz and note which questions you got wrong. Second, go back to the lesson material and specifically review the concepts related to your wrong answers — read the explanations, listen to audio examples, and practice any relevant exercises. Third, retake the quiz after your review. This cycle of test → review → retest is one of the most effective learning techniques in educational research.

Some additional tips: Do not retake a quiz immediately after your first attempt — your short-term memory may help you remember the answers without truly learning the material. Wait at least a few hours (ideally a day) before retaking. Try to understand why each wrong answer was wrong, not just memorize the correct answer. This deeper processing leads to better retention and the ability to apply knowledge in new contexts. Use the quiz review mode to study your previous answers and their explanations at any time.
