Study Time Tracking

Learn how the platform tracks your study time and how to use this data to optimize your learning.

Ilm Al Lughah automatically tracks the time you spend actively studying on the platform. This feature gives you valuable insights into your study habits, helps you set realistic time goals, and provides data to optimize your learning schedule. Study time is tracked passively — you do not need to start or stop a timer. The system detects when you are actively engaging with content.

The study time tracker counts active engagement time: reading lessons, answering quiz questions, reviewing flashcards, and completing exercises. It intelligently pauses during periods of inactivity (such as when you leave a tab open and walk away) to ensure accuracy. The tracked time is displayed on your dashboard as: today's study time, this week's total, daily average this month, and a heat map calendar showing study intensity for each day (darker colors indicate more study time).

Research on language learning suggests that consistency matters more than total hours. Studying for 15-20 minutes every day is more effective than studying for 3 hours once a week. Our platform helps you find your optimal study duration by tracking how your quiz performance correlates with study time. Many students find that their focus and retention peak at around 20-30 minutes per session, with diminishing returns after 45-60 minutes without a break.

You can set daily study time goals in your profile settings — for example, "Study for at least 15 minutes per day." The platform will notify you if you are approaching the end of the day without reaching your goal. Meeting your daily time goal contributes to your streak and earns XP. Over time, the study time data helps you understand your learning patterns and make informed decisions about your study schedule.
