What Is Data Portability?
Data portability means you have the right to receive a copy of all the personal data we hold about you in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. This allows you to keep a personal backup, review what we have on file, or potentially transfer your data to another service. We believe your learning data belongs to you, and you should always be able to access it.
What You Can Export
When you request a data export, you'll receive a downloadable file containing: your profile information (name, email), complete learning history (every lesson completed, with dates), quiz results (all attempts, scores, and answers), flashcard data (all cards, review history, and confidence ratings), XP history (a log of all XP earned and how), streak history, badges earned, and account settings and preferences. The data is exported in JSON format for machine readability and includes a summary in human-readable form.
How to Export Your Data
To export your data: 1) Go to your Account Settings. 2) Click on the "Export My Data" button in the Privacy section. 3) We'll prepare your data export, which may take a few minutes depending on the amount of data. 4) Once ready, you'll receive a download link via email and an in-app notification. The download link is valid for 7 days and is secured so only you can access it.
Using Your Exported Data
The exported JSON file can be opened in any text editor, imported into spreadsheet applications, or processed with programming tools. Your flashcard data can be especially useful if you want to import it into other flashcard apps like Anki. We're working on providing export in additional formats (like CSV) in future updates. If you need your data in a specific format for accessibility reasons, contact our support team and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.
