Quiz System Improvements

Details on the latest improvements to our quiz and assessment system.

A Better Assessment Experience

We've made significant improvements to the Ilm Al Lughah quiz system based on community feedback and educational research. Quizzes are a critical part of the learning process — they help reinforce what you've learned, identify areas that need more practice, and give you a sense of accomplishment. Our updated quiz system is designed to be more reliable, more informative, and more engaging.

New Question Types

We've expanded beyond multiple choice with several new question types: Fill-in-the-blank — type in the correct Arabic word or form to complete a sentence. Matching — match Arabic words with their meanings, or verb roots with their patterns. Audio identification — listen to an Arabic word or phrase and select the correct answer. Ordering — arrange words into the correct sentence order (especially useful for Nahw practice). Short answer — write brief Arabic responses for more advanced assessments. These diverse question types better test different aspects of your Arabic knowledge.

Improved Feedback & Explanations

One of the most requested features was better feedback on wrong answers. Now, when you answer a question incorrectly, you'll see: the correct answer highlighted clearly, a detailed explanation of why that answer is correct, a reference to the relevant lesson where the concept is taught, and a link to review that takes you directly to the relevant lesson section. This turns every mistake into a learning opportunity, helping you understand not just what the right answer is, but why it's right.

Technical Improvements

Behind the scenes, we've also made important technical improvements: Auto-save — your answers are now saved after every question, so you never lose progress if your connection drops or browser crashes. Faster loading — quizzes now load 60% faster thanks to optimized data fetching. Better Arabic input — the Arabic keyboard for fill-in-the-blank questions now supports full tashkeel (diacritics) input with keyboard shortcuts. Accessibility improvements — all question types are now fully navigable with keyboard and screen readers.
