Master the Art of Quranic Recitation
We're excited to announce the launch of our comprehensive Tajweed course on Ilm Al Lughah! Tajweed — the science of proper Quranic recitation — is an essential skill for every Muslim who wishes to recite the Quran correctly. Our new course takes you from the basics of Arabic letter pronunciation (makharij al-huruf) all the way to advanced recitation rules, with audio demonstrations throughout.
Course Structure
The Tajweed course is organized into progressive modules: Module 1: Foundations — Arabic letter sounds, articulation points (makharij), and characteristics of letters (sifaat). Module 2: Basic Rules — noon sakinah & tanween rules (idhar, idgham, iqlab, ikhfaa), and meem sakinah rules. Module 3: Elongation — the rules of madd (elongation) including natural, connected, separated, and obligatory madd. Module 4: Stopping & Starting — rules for stopping (waqf) and starting (ibtidaa) during recitation. Module 5: Advanced Topics — heavy and light letters (tafkheem & tarqeeq), and the special rules of specific Quranic words.
Audio-First Learning
Tajweed is inherently an auditory discipline, and our course reflects this. Every rule is accompanied by clear audio demonstrations by qualified reciters, showing both correct and incorrect pronunciation so you can hear the difference. Interactive exercises ask you to identify tajweed rules in audio clips, and our quizzes test both your theoretical knowledge and your ability to recognize rules by ear. This audio-rich approach ensures you develop practical recitation skills, not just theoretical knowledge.
Start Your Tajweed Journey
The Tajweed course is available now and, like all content on Ilm Al Lughah, is completely free. Whether you're a new Muslim learning to recite for the first time or an experienced reciter looking to refine your skills, this course has something for you. Navigate to the Courses section and select "Tajweed" to begin. We recommend completing the Arabic letter recognition lessons in our beginner Sarf course first if you're not yet comfortable with Arabic script. Happy reciting!
