Quiz Types Explained

Learn about the different types of quizzes available on the platform and how each one tests your knowledge.

Ilm Al Lughah uses a variety of quiz types to test different aspects of your knowledge and keep the learning experience engaging. Each quiz type is designed to reinforce learning in a different way — some test recognition, others test recall, and some test application. Here is a complete breakdown of the quiz types you will encounter.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): The most common type. You are presented with a question and 3-4 answer options, and you select the correct one. MCQs are great for testing recognition and understanding of concepts. Fill-in-the-Blank: You are given a sentence or passage with a missing word or phrase, and you type in the correct answer. This tests recall rather than recognition, making it more challenging. Matching Exercises: You match items from two columns — for example, matching Arabic words to their meanings, or Tajweed rules to their descriptions.

True/False: Simple binary questions that test your understanding of specific facts or concepts. Audio-Based Questions: Particularly common in Tajweed courses, these play an audio clip and ask you to identify the rule being applied, the correct pronunciation, or the type of Madd being used. Ordering/Sequencing: You arrange items in the correct order — for example, putting the steps of wudu in sequence or ordering Tajweed rules by priority.

Each quiz typically contains a mix of question types to provide a comprehensive assessment of your understanding. The type of questions may vary based on the subject matter — Tajweed courses use more audio-based questions, while Sarf and Nahw courses may use more fill-in-the-blank and grammar analysis questions. Our system tracks which question types you perform best and worst on, helping you understand your learning strengths and areas for improvement.
