Account Information
When you sign in to Ilm Al Lughah using Google authentication, we receive and store the following from your Google account: your full name, email address, and profile picture URL. We also generate a unique user ID for your account on our platform. This information is used to identify your account, display your profile, and communicate with you about your learning journey. We don't access any other Google data such as your contacts, files, or browsing history.
Learning Activity Data
As you use the platform, we track your learning activities to provide progress tracking and gamification features. This includes: lessons viewed and completed, quiz attempts and scores, flashcard reviews and confidence ratings, XP earned, daily streak data, badges unlocked, and time spent on lessons. This data powers your personal dashboard, enables spaced repetition in flashcards, and helps us understand which parts of our curriculum are most effective.
Technical Data
Like most websites, we collect basic technical data for security, performance monitoring, and debugging purposes. This includes: your IP address (which helps us detect suspicious activity), browser type and version, device type and screen resolution, and general geographic region (country/city level, not precise location). We also collect error logs when something goes wrong on the platform — these contain technical details about the error but no personal content.
What We DON'T Collect
We want to be equally transparent about what we don't collect: we don't collect your password (authentication is handled entirely by Google), financial information (the platform is 100% free), precise location data, contacts or phone numbers, photos or media from your device, or any data from other apps on your device. We respect your privacy and minimize data collection to only what's essential for delivering our educational service.
