Verb Conjugation Flashcard Drills

Master Arabic verb conjugations through targeted flashcard drills for all verb forms.

Arabic verb conjugation is one of the most challenging aspects of the language, with each verb potentially having dozens of forms across different tenses, persons, genders, and numbers. Verb conjugation flashcard drills on Ilm Al Lughah make this daunting task manageable through focused, repetitive practice.

The drill cards present a verb root and a target conjugation (e.g., "Conjugate فَعَلَ in the present tense, 2nd person feminine singular"). You mentally form the answer and then flip the card to check. This active production practice is far more effective than simply reading conjugation tables, because it forces your brain to construct the form from memory.

Drills are organized by verb form (وزن). You can practice Form I (فَعَلَ) verbs separately from Form II (فَعَّلَ), Form III (فَاعَلَ), and so on through Form X. Each form has its own conjugation patterns, and drilling them separately before mixing them together is the most effective approach recommended by Arabic grammar scholars.

The flashcard system also includes drills for irregular verbs — verbs with weak letters (حروف العلة), doubled letters (المضعّف), and hamzated roots (المهموز). These verbs deviate from standard patterns and require extra practice. The spaced repetition algorithm ensures you spend more time on the irregular forms you find most challenging.
