While Ilm Al Lughah automatically generates flashcards based on your course progress, you can also create custom flashcard decks for personalized study. Custom decks are perfect for vocabulary from external reading, grammar rules you want to drill, or any topic not covered in the standard curriculum.
To create a custom deck, navigate to the Flashcards section and click "Create New Deck." Give your deck a descriptive name (e.g., "Surah Al-Baqarah Vocabulary" or "Irregular Plural Forms") and optionally add a description. You can organize decks into categories for easy access later.
Adding cards to your deck is straightforward. Click "Add Card" and fill in the front and back sides. For Arabic cards, we recommend putting the Arabic text on the front and the English meaning, root letters, and an example sentence on the back. You can also add optional tags to cards for filtering during review sessions.
Custom flashcards are integrated into the same spaced repetition system as auto-generated cards. Once created, they'll appear in your review queue at optimal intervals. You can also share your custom decks with friends or study partners, and they can share theirs with you — making collaborative learning easy and effective.
